July and August News 2014





















  • At Radwinter Church, the new access floor has been put in, by Lodge and Sons, to allow servicing and repairs of the church clock. The clock is being repaired by A. James, Jewellers, Saffron Walden.
  • We are awaiting Planning Permission for a Garden Room extension to an early C.17th, Grade II* Listed, timber framed and plastered farmhouse in Essex.
  • At the Pleshey House of Retreat, bricklayers have done a great job on the end wall, and the new bricks on the piers tie in well with the Imperial bricks. The All-Person toilet has been fitted out, and decorations are being finalised.
  • A Pre-application has been submitted to the Local Authority for works to convert an early C.18th threshing barn in Essex into domestic dwelling.
  • We are awaiting Pre-application advice from the Local Authority for a kitchen/dining area extension and construction of a new garage for a Grade II Listed C.17th timber framed and plastered house in Essex.
  • We have carried out a survey of a splendid Grade II, late C.16th Manor House in Essex, and survey drawings are being prepared.
  • An application has been submitted for the conversion of an Essex barn, within the curtilage of a Grade II Listed Farmhouse, to ancillary annexe accommodation.
  • A Pre-application package is with the client for perusal, prior to sending to the Local Authority, for their advice regarding the construction of a new house on the site of an old house in Cambridgeshire.
  • Working drawings are being prepared for works to a C.17th, Grade II timber frame and plaster house and outbuilding in Cambridgeshire, and also for the construction of a new, oak framed outbuilding.
  • We have prepared working drawings and schedule of works for the refurbishment of a property in Clapham, and works are due to start at the beginning of September.
  • Concept design plans are with the client for perusal, prior to being submitted to the Local Authority, for amendments to a previously granted extension and landscaping to a Grade II Listed, Arts and Crafts style house in Essex.
  • We have surveyed the ground floor of a Grade II Listed Essex windmill and attached house. Survey plans have been drawn up. Concept plans are being drawn up to provide a family room, utility room and a new hall.
  • An historic recording is being undertaken for a Grade 1 C.13th Farmhouse in Norfolk. We have conducted a measured survey of the attic and also of a beautiful exterior wall. We are preparing concept design drawings to provide a larger kitchen, highly glazed and flint extension, and for re-ordering of the house and coach house.
  • Concept design planning is being prepared for interior works and interior design to a C.15th Grade II listed farmhouse in Hertfordshire.
  • We have carried out the Quinquennial Inspection of Holy Trinity Church, Heydon, and the Report will be written up.
  • Throughout July and August, Sibyl, Monica and Richard have met prospective clients at many and varied properties throughout Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Suffolk. We look forward to bringing you news of these new projects soon.
  • After seven years at KPT, Nicola has decided to spread her wings and will be working in another part of the country. We wish her all the best, and she will be much missed in the office.
  • We welcome Corrie Newell to the Practice, as she joins us in September.
