KPT News November 2011

  • Finchingfield Guildhall: The winning Building Contractor has been announced as: Fairhurst Ward Abbott. This exciting Heritage Lottery/ English Heritage funded conversion project is due to start on-site in December. See their website www.finchingfieldguildhall.org.uk
  • The construction of our unusual timber-framed round building is continuing at quite a pace with R. J. Pinnock and Sons with the topping-out ceremony this month.
  • The new glazed screen and meeting room in Great Chesterford Church being constructed by Lodge and Sons is nearing completion and looking fabulous.
  • The Georgian Orangery and underground Cinema/Games Room we designed is being built by Cubbitt Theobald. It’s looking very elegant and is nearing completion.
  • The Victorian Stable block indoor swimming pool building is completed
  • Planning permission and Listed Building Consent were approved for the alterations to Braxted Park (Grade II* listed Georgian Country House).
  • Planning Permission, Listed Building Consent and Scheduled Monument Consent were all approved for the alteration and extension to Widdington Hall (grade II listed, Medieval Hall House).
  • Company Secretary and CDM Co-ordinator Peter attended a seminar organised by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health preparatory to arranging for KPTA to be assessed as complying with the requirements of BS/EN/OHSAS18001. This is the latest specification for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • Architectural Designer, Nicola was in Chichester, as part of her MSc in Timber Building Conservation, studying this month the Repair of Timber Structures.
  • Senior Interior Designer, Sarah, was in Buckingham for part of November, continuing her MA in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors
  • Members of staff and their partners, celebrated their annual KPT Christmas Outing by spending a very pleasant evening in Cambridge. We ate a hearty dinner at The Chop House, followed by a visit to the Cambridge Arts Theatre, to see Noel Coward’s “Star Quality”, starring Golden Globe Winner Amanda Donahoe.
  • Architect Monica successfully completed her probationary period, and was welcomed as a permanent member of staff.
  • Architect Maria is busy writing essays for her MSc in Conservation of the Historic Environment, the latest being on Conservation legislation.
  • Architect Anthony was delighted to become the grandfather of a beautiful baby girl, called Orla, on 1st November. Orla is the fourth granddaughter of Anthony and his wife, Martine.
  • Architect Monica and her husband Alistair celebrated the first birthday of their gorgeous daughter, Ailsa.
