March News from Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects




See below for a taste of what KPT was up to during March.
  • The Quinquennial Report for the Grade II Listed Church of All Saints, Woodford Wells has been completed and sent to their P.C.C.
  • Initial scheme design sketches have been completed, and we are awaiting the topographical survey for the re-development of a vacant plot within the Waltham Abbey Conservation Area. 
  • An application for Planning Permission has been submitted for a new double garage with veranda, and also a garden store within the curtilage of a Grade II Listed cottage in Cambridgeshire. 
  • Our Interior Design team has designed an elegant, yet very functional bathroom for an unlisted London flat.
  • Working Drawings are being prepared for ground and first floor rear extensions to provide a Sunroom, larger Kitchen/Breakfast Room, First Floor Bedroom, and also some internal re-ordering for a delightful C.18th house in Essex.
  • Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent applications have been submitted for works to a Grade II Listed C.19th Essex School House, which is currently in very poor condition.
  • An application for Planning Permission has been submitted for internal alterations to a Grade II Listed, late C16th in-line Hall House in Essex.
  • Concept drawings showing alterations to provide more family and utility space are being prepared for a C.17th Grade II* Vicarage in Essex. 
  • Further concept drawings are being prepared for an ancillary leisure building and some internal reordering to a C.19th Georgia Palladian Villa style house in Cambridgeshire.
  • We are awaiting an on-site meeting with the Planner to discuss the provision of a new garage/outbuilding for a C.17th, Grade II thatched house in Cambridgeshire.
  • A Certificate of Lawfulness has been completed for internal re-ordering and refurbishment works to a charming 1970s house in Essex.  
  • Proposed Plans and Proposed Elevations have been drawn up for a new rear wing providing a ground floor Family Room, Kitchen and Utility Room with first floor Master Bedroom, En-suite and Dressing Room over, and also some internal re-modelling to a C.20th bungalow with attics in Essex.
  • An application for Pre-application advice has been submitted for the provision of a single storey extension to provide a Family Bathroom, storage, Master bedroom with Master En-suite bathroom for a late C.17th/early C.18th timber frame, Grade II Listed house in Essex.
  • A Quinquennial Report of All Saints Church, Woodford Wells has been written and sent to the P.C.C. 
  • Rectifications are almost completed for a fine Grade I Listed, C.15th house in Suffolk.
  • Our RIBA and RICS Award entries of Finchingfield Guildhall have resulted in this beautiful building being shortlisted for three awards:-  
    • The RIBA Regional Award in the East Region. 
    • The RICS East of England 2014 Community Benefit Award.
    • The RICS East of England 2014 Building Conservation Award. RIBA Judges visited the Guildhall on 5th March, and RICS Judges visited on 25th March.
We are very pleased to welcome back Sarah.  The office has been extremely quiet without her!
